Process & quality

From strain selection to cultivation and handling, Cedar Roots is guided by a preference for clarity, consistency, and close attention to process. Our approach is small-batch, practical, and continually refined.

Strain selection

We grow four species: Blue Oyster, Lion's Mane, Black Pearl King Oyster, and Pioppino. Not because that's all there is — because these four work well together in our space, our climate, and on our plates. Each was chosen for flavour, cultivation character, and how it fits the overall production rhythm. When we add something new, it'll be for the same reasons.

Cultivation

The goal is getting the most out of a small, dialled-in space. That means optimized substrates, tight environmental control, and strain selection that keeps maintenance low without sacrificing quality. We run consistent cycles and harvest at the right moment — that's what makes the difference between okay mushrooms and great ones.

Handling & documentation

Post-harvest handling is designed to preserve quality and extend shelf life. We provide clear storage and handling guidance with orders. For growers, our cultures and spawn are prepared with documentation so you know what you're working with and how to use it.

A focused approach

Four species. Grown well. That's the whole idea. We're not trying to be a broad-line supplier — we're a small farm with a deliberate lineup and real growing data behind everything we sell. The cultures and spawn we offer are the same genetics we run in production.
